"I'm Min, I'm 36, and I work in sales. Don't laugh, but I used to be a lifeguard. At my peak I weighed only seventy-something kilos, and I even had V-lines.
But sales means a lot of drinking and client dinners, and my weight just kept growing, up to 101 kg at my heaviest. I got winded just walking, and at my age it was getting harder and harder to lose weight..."
101 kg from client dinners, and half of it was fat
After moving into sales, drinking and entertaining clients became part of the job. At his heaviest, Min weighed 101 kg with about 41–42% body fat.
"Half my weight was fat."
He tried fasting and bulletproof coffee, but the weight came back as soon as he stopped
To slim down, Min tried 16:8 intermittent fasting, bulletproof coffee, and even laxatives.
"As soon as I stopped, the weight came back faster than I expected. Since my everyday eating hadn't changed, the rebound was even worse."
When a method isn't paired with lifestyle changes, the results rarely last. It's a common experience for many people whose weight loss attempts have failed.
Being honest with the doctor: my lifestyle can't change much
At NAISS CLINIC, Dr. Yu-Shun Qiu first assessed Min's condition, then gave personalized medical weight loss recommendations along with basic exercise and diet guidance.
Min told the doctor frankly that with his job, it would be hard to commit to lots of exercise and a strict diet, so the doctor adjusted the plan to fit his real life.

"The biggest difference this time is that I basically don't exercise, I still go to client dinners, and I'm under more stress than before. In theory I should have kept gaining weight, but I'm down to 83 kg now."
Pushing through plateaus, the weight kept slowly coming down
Min admits there were plateaus and ups and downs early on, and seeing the scale not move was discouraging. The support and encouragement from his consultant helped him through the low points.
With his lifestyle, he lost about 2 kg a month on average. Not fast, but steady. He now weighs 83 kg with about 36% body fat.
Best of all: his waistband now fits two fists
"What I'm happiest about is that my waistband is a full size looser, I can fit two fists in it. Buying bigger and bigger pants as I got older was depressing. Now I finally don't have to size up anymore."
His message for anyone thinking about losing weight: losing weight is hard work. It takes patience, and you have to settle in for the long haul to reach your ideal weight.
