Key takeaways
VASER liposuction case: belly fat built up over more than ten years, unchanged by the gym or 16:8 fasting. After an assessment with Dr. Kuo-Chun Liao, VASER liposuction was performed; before surgery the doctor explained that high visceral fat meant the stomach might not end up completely flat. No drainage tubes were needed, the stomach was clearly flatter within a week, and the waist was 2 inches smaller three months later.

I'm YC. I've had this belly for more than ten years, plus a double chin and lots of fat on my face, so I looked big and heavy overall. To fix it, I joined a gym, starting with two workouts a week: cardio boxing, running and weight training, all to burn fat and slim down my stomach.
Besides exercise, I knew I had to watch my diet. I tried 16:8 fasting, but compared with exercise, dieting worked poorly for me. I'd last two or three days at most before giving up and going back to late-night snacks. I especially love Taiwanese fried chicken and braised snacks. After a long day at work, I always felt I deserved a treat, and eating was also a way to release the day's stress.
As you can imagine, there was no way to lose fat like that. I care a lot about my body shape, but couldn't manage to build muscle and burn fat on my own, so I wanted a faster way: liposuction, to solve my weight problem quickly and effectively.
Second-generation VASER liposuction: safer, with a shorter recovery
For the method, I chose the latest VASER liposuction technology. Compared with traditional or water-jet liposuction, VASER is safer, needs no drainage tubes, and recovers faster, so it barely affects daily work.
On the day of surgery, I wasn't nervous like most people. I was really excited, because once it was over and I woke up from anesthesia, my life might change for good. I could finally say goodbye to the stubborn fat I'd carried for over ten years!
It's now three months since my VASER liposuction, and I rate it a high 9.5. My visceral fat is high, and the doctor told me beforehand the result might differ from what I expected and my stomach wouldn't be completely flat. I'd prepared myself, but the difference from before is huge. The belly that cardio and weight training couldn't shift, VASER liposuction finally cleared away!
VASER liposuction cleared years of stubborn fat and took 2 inches off my waist!
"A week after surgery you could already see my stomach was flat, a world away from before!"
It's not just me who noticed the VASER liposuction result; friends exclaimed, "I never thought I'd see you without a belly!" Besides the clear change in my body, my mindset has become healthier too. I used to try all kinds of unhealthy ways to lose weight. Since VASER liposuction I've learned to control my diet, and the scale gives the most honest feedback. Watching the number keep dropping pushes me to stick with healthy eating.
Now that I'm a size smaller, I can wear the clothes that no longer fit. My clothes look better and I feel more confident. I used to suck in my stomach and still couldn't hide it. Now it's flat, and my waist is 2 inches smaller, which I'm really proud of.
A 180-degree change in eating habits, because "this body is expensive now"
"Now I don't touch fried or spicy food at all, I avoid carbs as much as possible and eat more protein. For breakfast I have oats, corn porridge or milk."
From loving fried chicken and braised snacks, my eating habits have done a 180-degree turn, because "this body is expensive now." I don't want to spend money on VASER liposuction only to ruin the result by overeating or ignoring calories, or even end up back in the body I wasn't confident in. So I pay close attention to what I eat and have built healthy eating habits.
Does skin sag after liposuction?
Compared with traditional liposuction, VASER releases heat during the procedure, which helps keep the skin firm. Still, I did notice my skin was slightly looser afterward. If your budget allows, I'd suggest combining it with Renuvion: using the same incisions as the VASER liposuction, Renuvion's minimally invasive skin tightening keeps the skin firm and elastic, for an even better result.

Liposuction isn't weight loss, it's body contouring!
"Say you start with 100% of your fat. VASER liposuction removes 50%, and the other 50% can still expand."
Many people think VASER liposuction will make them super slim, or even expect to lose 10 kg right away. But liposuction is really about contouring. Your weight won't change much; what drops sharply is the number of fat cells. Diet matters even more, because the remaining fat cells can still expand, and if fat spreads to untreated areas, you can still regain weight.
For aftercare, I highly recommend herbal recovery tonic; after a week of drinking it, the swelling went down noticeably. When resting, lie flat and sit as little as possible to avoid pressing on the incisions. Eat plenty of protein and vitamin C to help the wounds heal, so you really get the body shape you want.
To friends who also want liposuction, I suggest timing it before winter. Compression garments claim to be breathable, but I get hot easily, and summers now are so hot that I'd never manage to keep one on, which would hurt recovery. Plus, if you have VASER liposuction in winter, by the time recovery is over summer is coming, and you can hit the beach and show off your figure with confidence!
