Key takeaways

Mentor Xtra (Queen Wave) breast augmentation case: a mermaid performer who wears bikinis for work and wanted firm upper-chest fullness. After an assessment with Dr. Kuo-Chun Liao and a 3D simulation, she chose Queen Wave implants through an incision in the breast fold so no scar shows when she raises her arms. Living on the east coast, she couldn't attend every follow-up, and discomfort was more noticeable in the first month; she returned to underwater training after about a month.

"I'm Joanna, I'm 25, and I'm a professional mermaid performer. My style leans Western, and as a performer, the bar for my appearance keeps getting higher..."

I looked at lots of implants online. I wanted fullness in the upper chest, a firm, lifted look. Based on everyone's opinions and advice, and after the doctor let us feel different implants at the consultation, I chose the new soft-fill implant with a 12-year warranty, Mentor Xtra (Queen Wave). I think Queen Wave doesn't look over the top, and it's not the kind that bounces a lot when you move.

Not caring what others think, and saving up for breast augmentation

I don't mind people knowing I had breast augmentation, because everyone sees beauty differently these days; it's very subjective. If you think it would make you beautiful, go do it, and don't care what others think.

I've wanted breast augmentation since college, but it's expensive and I never had the money on hand, so it stayed on my mind. After I started working I had some savings, kept saving bit by bit, and then decided to do it.

Which incision? Breast fold, underarm or areola?

I chose the breast fold. My job means wearing a bikini top, so a visible scar when I raise my arms would be a big deal, which ruled out the underarm. As for the areola, at my consultation the consultant said it's best avoided for women who haven't breastfed yet.

Before surgery I used NAISS CLINIC's 3D simulation, and seeing what I'd look like afterward was really cool.

As for whether the result matches the simulation, I think I need to wait a while. The doctor said to massage after surgery to help reach the ideal shape faster, but I've been busy with work and haven't had much time to massage. So if you've had breast augmentation, really do massage regularly!!

Noticeable discomfort after surgery, and the clinic's aftercare helped

I didn't have any particular thoughts before going into the operating room. At the consultation I'd seen many of the doctor's cases and toured the operating room, which is fully hospital-grade, and the professional air shower room was reassuring too.

NAISS CLINIC offers recovery IV drips and other aftercare treatments, but I live on the east coast, so I couldn't do the full program. I only had a few recovery drips, which reduced my discomfort a lot, so apart from the days I had them, I was quite uncomfortable. Coworkers suggested an herbal recovery tonic, and I was going to try it, but once I got through the painful stretch it didn't seem necessary.

NAISS CLINIC actually offers lots of aftercare services, and the consultant checked on my recovery and gave me advice, which was heartwarming. I didn't feel abandoned just because I'm not in Taipei, haha. It's a real pity I couldn't do the full aftercare program, so if you're getting breast augmentation, I'd suggest staying in Taipei for a few days before going home!

Grateful for my family and friends' 100% support, and much more confident now

Right after surgery, things I could do at work became harder and I had to rebuild from scratch. In daily life I couldn't raise my arms too high or carry heavy things, for about the first month. For performing, the mermaid backward turn underwater means pulling your body back, which works the chest muscles, so I couldn't get in the water to train for about a month after surgery, and I was slightly hunched for about a month.

Family and friends keep asking if they can feel, asking how I look in this or that top, and handing me clothes to try. Since I got back, about nine or ten coworkers have all had a feel; they wanted to know what it's like. They all supported me before I went, even though my job meant I couldn't get in the water for a long time after surgery. When I told them my plan, they were very supportive and said they were all for it, 100% behind me, and I'm really grateful.

Since my breast augmentation, I feel very confident in my clothes and I'm more willing to take photos and show my figure, and everyone around me says my figure looks better.

My own experience, and why I chose NAISS CLINIC

Breast augmentation is popular now, and many people say the pain afterward isn't bad, but I have to share my own experience. I'm sensitive to pain, so I was uncomfortable for the first month. Maybe because I didn't do NAISS's full aftercare program, or maybe because everyone's body is different, it stuck with me, but I'll still say this is what I went through.

As for implants, I think clinics' implants are all pretty good these days; what matters is the doctor's skill: whose surgeries they've done and which well-known people you trust have vouched for the clinic. Listen to plenty of experiences, and don't be afraid of breast augmentation. If you want it, do it sooner; a few more years of looking great is worth it. I think I had it at just the right time, because I'd only just saved enough, and the surgery didn't stop me from getting on with life.

I started by searching for aesthetic clinics online and consulted many (price, first impressions, setting and so on). Weighing it all up, I chose NAISS CLINIC. I also saw that an influencer I like had chosen NAISS, and Dr. Liao is very polite. I'd seen many of his cases, and influencers have had surgery with him too.

Finally, if you want breast augmentation, hurry. If you want to be beautiful, be beautiful for more years. It costs the same either way, so why not enjoy it longer!
