"I'm Ting-Yi, I'm 27, and I'm a stay-at-home mom. After having three kids I just couldn't lose weight. I tried many weight-loss methods, but they all ended up hurting my health, and my thighs, which I cared about most, didn't get any slimmer. In the end I decided on liposuction..."
From 78 kg to 45 kg, and my hip dips still didn't improve
What I mainly wanted was liposuction; I only did breast fat grafting because it felt like a waste to throw the fat away. Since having three children it's been very hard to lose weight. I exercise, but my hip dips wouldn't go away at all. I weighed 78 kg during pregnancy, and after my third child I couldn't lose any weight. I cut out carbs and tried a keto diet, but my hair fell out and my face turned sallow. Then I adjusted my diet and worked out, but I trained so hard my period stopped and my breasts went flat.
What I remember most is a period when my hormones were out of balance and the tops of my thighs started swelling. Since I already had hip dips, I could feel my thigh fat jiggling when I walked, my clothes looked bad, and I lost confidence, so I booked a consultation right away. I didn't hesitate at all about surgery, because I'm the kind of person who fixes whatever I'm not happy with, so I decided within a week. Even though my weight had dropped from 78 kg to 45 kg while dieting, my thighs, which I cared about most, hadn't changed at all, so I figured liposuction would just be faster.
Dr. Po-Ying Lee is meticulous and patiently explained the recovery period
I chose NAISS CLINIC because the leg results in their case ads looked great, and a friend of mine works there as a consultant. I found Dr. Po-Ying Lee very patient. At the consultation I told him I really wanted very slim legs. Once he understood the leg shape I wanted, he explained that everyone has a limit to how much can be removed by liposuction. He'd do his best to achieve the contours I wanted, but he also told me that would mean a long recovery. After surgery the clinic provided painkillers, anti-swelling injections and anti-inflammatory IV drips, which I found quite effective; the swelling went down a lot
Zero pain after surgery, and the secret to keeping the breast volume is...
I was happy and not nervous at all on the day of surgery. I've had three C-sections, so I roughly knew what surgery involves. What surprised me was that there was no pain at all afterward. I started looking after my kids as soon as I got home because it didn't hurt one bit. The clinic gave me painkillers, but I didn't take a single one. The bruises on my thighs were large, very dark and purple, and looked painful, but I only felt slight swelling; maybe I just have a high pain tolerance. The bruising started to fade about three months after surgery, and my legs gradually got slimmer around four months after surgery. But I'm naturally prone to swelling, so even now, six months after surgery, I still wear compression shorts, and the swelling is more noticeable before my period. I already eat more protein than carbs, so my breasts have held up well and haven't lost any volume.
Now I can buy pants in any cut, and I'm confident and happy
I'm almost five months post-op, and my satisfaction is 9 out of 10. It's not a 10 because I swell so easily that the result isn't as stable. One small inconvenience after surgery: I like showing my midriff, but the compression shorts are high-waisted and cover my belly, so during recovery I couldn't wear shorts and had to wear looser clothes. I really feel more confident after surgery, and my legs look better. I used to pick pants by cut to hide my hip dips, but now I don't have to at all, and even in shorts the sides of my legs don't look chunky
You only live once, so live for yourself
If a friend wants thigh liposuction in the future, I'd suggest having it in winter, because wearing compression shorts in summer can get really hot, and they stick to you when you sweat from walking. If you're someone who really wants to wear shorts in summer, I'd allow about six months for recovery. I really do recommend that anyone who wants it should go for it soon, because your body is your own, you get to decide, and you only live once, so you should choose to live for yourself.
