Well-known blogger Apple's full review of HydraFacial + Discovery Pico laser
Let me share what I had done during my recent "maintenance visit." I wrote this over a long weekend; did you go anywhere? I only met a friend at a café for one day of it. Come to think of it, I hadn't dared to meet friends for two or three months! I'd been living the stay-at-home life, self-isolating during the pandemic. I have to say, spending so long at home is the perfect time for aesthetic treatments with a bit more downtime (huh?). This time I tried something new to me, HydraFacial plus Discovery Pico, so I decided to write about the whole process. Actually, HydraFacial has no downtime; it's Discovery Pico that leaves your skin redder afterward. But since I was already at the clinic, I decided doing both together was more convenient XD
Injected by a specialist who carefully assessed the treatment area
Beforehand, a thick layer of numbing cream was applied under my eyes and on my cheeks. I was nervous and excited! The doctor disinfected the under-eye area and began. The injections weren't just under the eyes but also in the cheeks, with the amount of hyaluronic acid adjusted to the areas that needed more. The doctor was so professional and gentle! Before each injection they told me it was about to start, so I was mentally prepared.
During the injections, it just felt like being poked by a needle, and surprisingly it didn't hurt much! Afterward there were a few tiny needle marks, but they faded over a few days. The whole treatment was quick, about ten-odd minutes. Under my eyes felt a little tight and puffy afterward, and the filling effect was visible right away. Some people get small bruises; I had a few too, but they faded in three or four days, with no discomfort.
Next came the HydraFacial. Afterward, the jar of fluid from my treatment was a bit cloudy, and if you look closely you can see the individual blackheads; all the gunk that was extracted is in there! The less you take care of your skin or clear your pores, the murkier it gets. The aesthetician said some people's are shocking. I loved it and think I'll get a HydraFacial once a month as a deep-cleansing treatment. Traditional facials often leave marks from extractions, and I've always worried about an aesthetician scarring my face. After this HydraFacial my skin felt super dewy and clean. It's definitely a treatment I'll try again!
Professional, customized consultations for ideal results
NAISS CLINIC targets each person's specific skin concerns!
After the HydraFacial came Discovery Pico. The clinic's consultation rooms are spacious and comfortable. After filling in my details and a basic introduction to the treatment, I learned what we'd be doing that day, and we got started! I'd had other pico lasers before, but this was my first time with Discovery Pico. Its peak power is 25 times that of other devices, and its energy is stronger than the machines I'd tried. Recovery takes about a week, but I just had to give it a try! I especially wanted to improve my large pores and rough texture, and this was the perfect time for some repair.
The Ferrari of lasers! Discovery Pico performed by a specialist
There are many pico lasers in Taiwan: Discovery Pico, PicoSure, PicoWay, PicoPlus, PicoQ (Enlighten), Picocare. If they were cars, the Discovery Pico I had today would be a supercar, billed as the Ferrari of pico lasers XD. It mainly treats pigmentation, dull skin, fine lines around the eyes, large pores, rough texture, depressed acne scars and dark acne marks. It offers 1.8 GW of ultra-high peak power, minimal heat damage, the strongest pigment-shattering effect, up to 800 mJ of output energy and pulses as short as 450 ps.
My skin has large pores, and I often stay up late, so it's rough and aging. I find Discovery Pico is a lot like "fractional laser without as much pain." If you have serious depressed scars, you still need fractional laser, but if like me you have large pores, rough texture or want to treat spots, Discovery Pico is a great choice for better skin!
Dr. Cheng performed my treatment. I thought a woman doctor might go gentler, but she really understands what women want: if you're doing it, it should work the first time. She was very precise and gave extra passes to my enlarged pores. It honestly didn't feel painful, and it wasn't as hot as fractional laser, but my face turned really red afterward, with a noticeable warm, flushed feeling! I strongly recommend a dragon's blood sheet mask plus a cold pack, which soothed it a lot. Most of it faded after about two hours.
Reassuring care quality, with dedicated staff looking after you
Then I picked up some ointment and headed home. The consultant explained the aftercare in detail, and it's simple: use plenty of sheet masks, avoid saunas and hot springs, skip acid and whitening products, and keep up with moisturizing and sun protection. You can ask any questions on the spot! The clinic's consultants answer patiently, you can ask anything before or after treatment, and the doctor is very friendly. It's truly reassuring.
