Gentle Jawline for a Transgender Patient
A Step Closer to the Ideal

Facial Contouring
Facial Contouring Case

Hi, I’m Chang-Hong, and I’ve wanted facial contouring for a long time. Since high school, I noticed my face was asymmetrical: my right jaw and cheekbones were more pronounced, while the left cheekbone was higher. As a transgender individual, a softer facial shape is crucial for me. I even tried expensive facial adjustments in college, but the results were minimal. Eventually, I decided on surgery.

Comprehensive Consultation
and Post-Surgery Care

During the consultation, Dr. You Yancheng explained in detail how much bone would be reduced on each side. He also showed a simulation of the expected results, which gave me confidence in the procedure. After surgery, I stayed in the clinic’s recovery room overnight, and a dedicated nurse cared for me the entire time. I’m so glad I chose NAISS CLINIC!

Minimal Pain During Recovery
No Need for Photo Retouching

Recovery was surprisingly pain-free; I only experienced some swelling and mild discomfort. The most significant change is that I no longer need to retouch my jawline in photos. Previously, I would spend a lot of time editing my jaw angles, but now, I don’t even use smoothing filters. I couldn’t be happier!

Facial Contouring Surgery
A Complete Solution for Facial Shape Issues

Cheekbone

Cheekbone Contouring Step 1

An incision is made inside the mouth, with a small cut near the ear. The anterior cheekbone is cut in an L-shape and pushed inward.

Cheekbone Contouring Step 2

The cut bone is fixed inward and backward for shaping.

Cheekbone Contouring Step 3

Both the anterior and posterior cheekbones are pushed inward and fixed in place.

Cheekbone Contouring Step 4

The soft tissue is repositioned over the new cheekbone contour.

Cheekbone contouring focuses on reducing the prominence and width of the cheekbones. Incisions are made in the upper gum and the hairline near the ear (about 1-1.5 cm). The bones are sawed and pushed inward, then fixed with titanium plates. This achieves a narrower midface and a softer cheekbone profile.

Jawbone

Jawbone Contouring Step 1

Cutting excess lines from below the ear to the jawline.

Jawbone Contouring Step 2

Additional procedures, such as fat pad reduction, can be performed as needed.

Jawbone Contouring Step 3

Sutures placed inside the oral cavity.

Jawbone contouring focuses on reshaping the jawbone and chin. Incisions are made in the mucosa behind the lower gum (about 3-4 cm). No visible scars remain on the face. The jawbone angle is trimmed to reduce prominence, achieving a narrower and more balanced jawline.

Chin

Short Chin Solution

Short chin: Extending the chin using the patient's own bone.

Wide Chin Solution

Wide chin: Reducing width and length by shaping into a butterfly design.

Long Chin Solution

Long chin: Reducing length and width by a T-shaped cut and removing the middle bone.

For naturally broad or square chins that create an unbalanced look, chin contouring or bone shaving can help. A section of the chin bone is removed and the sides are pushed inward for a slimmer effect. Pairing jaw and chin contouring creates a harmonious V-shaped profile.

FAQ
About Facial Contouring

Facial contouring surgery focuses on modifying bone structures. Possible complications include bleeding or asymmetry. At NAISS Clinic, we use 3D printing, pre-surgical simulations, and endoscopic guidance to ensure surgical precision and reduce operative time.

Yes, it is possible. However, the overall surgery time must be considered to avoid increased risks associated with prolonged anesthesia and surgery. If the procedures don’t interfere with one another, they can be performed together.

At NAISS CLINIC, surgeries are performed under twilight anesthesia, ensuring a painless procedure. Post-surgery, the bone membrane is sutured to minimize discomfort. With proper post-operative care, such as cold compresses, the pain is significantly reduced.

Skin sagging can occur because the bone structure slightly shrinks, reducing soft tissue support. However, over time, the skin and soft tissue adapt, and sagging typically isn’t severe. For dramatic facial changes, treatments like ultrasound or RF lifting can address minor sagging effectively.
